DPZ Update to 2019 Franchise Disclosure Document Provides More Info

In our June 17th report “DPZ: 2019 Franchise Disclosure Document Review for Domino’s,” (see also our June 18th “DPZ: Clarification re: 2019 Franchise Disclosure Document Review for Domino’s”) we included tables showing average weekly unit sales and median weekly unit sales for franchised, company-owned, and combined Domino’s U.S. stores for 2013-17 because — as of June 17th — data in this respect for 2018 was not yet part of the Franchisee Disclosure Document (FDD). However, Domino’s recently updated its 2019 FDD, and now includes this information for 2018. As such, here is that information for 2014-18:

Q4 2018 Same-Store Sales Ranked for 48 Public Restaurant Chains

With Dave & Buster’s (PLAY; Not Rated) reporting its Q4 2018 results after Tuesday’s market close, we now have same-store sales results publicly reported from all 48 restaurant concepts for calendar Q4 2018 that comprise our Kalinowski Restaurant Industry Index. This report ranks all 48 concepts’ calendar Q4 2018 domestic samestore sales from best to worst.

Updating our Q4E19 Kalinowski Restaurant Industry Same-Store Sales Index (Again)

With this report, we raise our data-driven Kalinowski Restaurant Industry Index for Q4E from +1.9% to +2.6%. This 70 basis-point increase is based on our latest proprietary checks/data as regards same-store sales performance for each of the constituent segments during the second half of November and all of December. December in particular seems to have been especially robust for publicly-traded restaurant concepts’ same-store sales.
