Recently, McDonald’s (MCD; Buy) National Leadership Council (NLC) — a group that represents McDonald’s franchisees — hired a top consulting firm to conduct an online poll “with 1,154 McDonald’s Owner Operators [franchisees].” We have obtained a copy of the detailed survey results, and include them in this report.

Updating our Q4E18 Kalinowski Restaurant Industry Same-Store Sales Index

With this report, we update our data-driven Kalinowski Restaurant Industry Index for Q4E from +1.9% to +2.0%. This ten basis-point increase is based on our latest proprietary checks/data as regards same-store sales performance so far for each of the constituent segments during October and the first half of November.

After Thursday’s market close, Starbucks (SBUX; Neutral) reported adjusted fiscal Q4 EPS of $0.62, ahead of our $0.59 forecast and sell-side consensus (as measured by Consensus Metrix) of $0.60.
